Here are some of our favorite spots and places around Packwood

Restaurants, Drinks, and Places Around Town

  • Packwood Brewing

    • Often has live music on summer weekends. They also have an ice cream trailer in the outdoor area that is great.

  • Longmire Springs Brewing

    • We split our time between both breweries. Check their events calendar as there seems to always be something fun happening. Great food truck options. We can recommend both the pizza truck and thai food truck.

  • Mountain Goat Coffee

    • We have spent many mornings here for our caffeine needs. Coffee roasted in house and they have so many freshly made pastries. We like the savory breakfast scone and the berry pinwheels.

  • Cliff Droppers

    • Some of our favorite burgers are here. So rewarding after a long hike.

  • Blue Spruce Saloon

    • This is the local community watering hole. We’ve gotten lucky a few times on pull tabs over the years. It might look rough on the outside but drinks are cold and the food is good.

  • Saturday Farmers Market

    • Every Saturday morning from 10am-2pm there is a small farmers market with crafts, fresh produce, and some baked goods. Try the Sourdough English Muffins from the Packwood Bread and Jam booth. So good.

  • Packwood Mercantile

    • Fun shop full of Mt Rainier, Packwood, and PNW themed merch/gifts. We have accumulated many fun t-shirts from this shop

Outdoor Hikes and Activities

  • Packwood Cowlitz River Public Access Point. You can walk from the cabin to this small park along the shores of the Cowlitz River. 

  • Skate Creek Park off Craig Road. This park is close to town and has meandering trails through the woods and a peaceful walk along Skate Creek. Great for a quick hike with kids or a place to walk your dog.

  • Packwood Lake Trail. Hike up to Packwood Lake. This is a popular day hike or overnight backpacking trip. The trailhead is a short drive from town.

  • Mt Rainier National Park. There are many hiking options within the national park. Way too many to list here. However, if looking for something quick and outside the pay station, check out Silver Falls or Deer Creek Falls. Both are accessed via Highway 123. 

  • White Pass, Goat Rocks, Mt St Helens. There are so many other hiking options in the area. The exploration opportunities are endless. Check Washington Trails Association, Guidebooks, and Alltrails can help point you in the right direction.
